Print is certainly NOT dead for community papers! Whether your publication focuses on news, advertisement, community stories, or a mix of content, readership is holding steady because you provide proven value to your community. However, communicating that to a world that thinks paid newspapers and community papers are the same things can be a challenge.

This session explores how to use core values as a communication tool with both new and existing clients. Core values are the guiding principles that dictate human behavior and actions. When we acknowledge them in others we say, “You’re a unique individual, and I appreciate you for what you bring to the table.” Core values-based relationships create a trusting connection, where your clients know you’re looking out for them. Through story sharing, observation, and open inquiry this interactive session teaches how to use core values to:

  1. Identify your client’s needs (both spoken and unspoken)
  2. Offer solutions that resonate with who they are as unique individuals
  3. Connect to your own Core Values Super Powers that keep you going when times are tough.
